I AM IRON GOLEM!

The Black Iron War Golems were forged by the Black Dragonflight and powered by the magic of Xostheron and Akaerna-Sagai. They were used to fight against the armies of Xaxion Drak'eem, but failed to save Ythan'alai from him. After Xostheron and Akaerna-Sagai were destroyed, the Black Iron War Golems were sealed in vaults across Azeroth by the Red Dragonflight. It would henceforth take the involvement of Alexstrasza or one of her consorts to re-open the vaults.

The Chancellors of Alterac sought to re-open the vaults by attaining the Fang of Korialastrasz, though they could not use it themselves as they were tainted by the blood of Xostheron and Akaerna-Sagai, and one had to open the vaults of one's own free will. Thus, they manipulated Warester Van Dam into unleashing the golems.

With the Crown of Will atop Tendura Xie's head, the golems all fell under his command. In Silverpine, where some had been uncovered and deployed by the Imperial Host of Lordaeron, the golems went rampant and caused damage to both Lightists and pagans.

When the citadel of Alterac was destroyed and Xie killed, the golems were deactivated once more.
