The Ambertree tribe was a tribe of jungle trolls that settled in the Swamp of Sorrows. There they worshipped aspects of the Four Gods, until the Atal'ai and the Metzli forced them to convert into Hakkari. As Hakkari they suffered, often losing daughters to blood sacrifice in the Temple of Atal'Hakkar. Eventually, the Metzli split from the Atal'ai, and the Ambertree were partially forgotten.
For turning against the Four Gods, they often received attacks from pagans from Karazhan. At the time of the Great War they were led by Jodax'an and his daughter Hai'gajin. Jin'thek's timely intervention saved them from annihilation by pagans. They pretended to remain loyal to the Hakkari and let Jin'thek disguise himself as a daughter of the tribe, to be offered up to the Atal'ai. Chamahuac led Jin'thek and Hai'gajin and the Green Dragons into the Temple, where they shattered the magical defenses from within, allowing the Metzli to invade. The Green Dragons then destroyed the Temple of Atal'Hakkar, turning it into the Sunken Temple.
It was then that Men'heva revealed that he had used Jin'thek to wipe out the Atal'ai, and the Metzli were his servants, and were actually worshipping Mnesthes. The Ambertree tribe hoped that Jin'thek would deliver them from the machinations of Men'heva, but Jin'thek had duties to his own people. He departed, but promised that he would return to save them someday.
